Living
with Intention in 2004
As
the New Year approaches, it is a perfect time to reflect
on your experiences from the past year in preparation for
the coming year. Here is a wonderful exercise I use with
my coaching clients to assist them in ‘completing
the old’ and ‘creating the new’. I also
complete the exercise for myself so that I can gracefully
let go of the past year and set my intentions for the coming
year. It is remarkable to me to review the completed exercise
at the end of each year and see what I have successfully
manifested in my life by setting intentions.
Completing
the Old
Step
One
Look at all the areas of your life, reflecting on 2003.
You may want to use the Wheel of Life for this part.
-
List all of your Wins, Successes, and Breakthroughs
-
List
all of your Losses, Disappointments and Breakdowns
Regardless of whether the item is a “win” or
a “loss”, you are not as likely to take on the
next opportunity in your life unless you are complete with
past accomplishments and disappointments. When you complete,
you create space for new things to show up in your life.
Here are two examples:
-
Win – In 2003, I formed a business success partnership
with another coach.
-
Win
– In 2003, I began writing my first book.
Step
Two
Choose 5-7 lessons you have learned this past year that
you want to take into 2004. When thinking of what to include,
remember that you will want to consciously use these lessons
in the coming year.
Here are two examples:
-
Lesson – In 2003, I learned that I am much more
confident as an entrepreneur with the support of my business
success partner---a person who believes wholeheartedly
in my abilities.
-
Lesson
– In 2003, I discovered that writing enables me
to access my inner wisdom and creativity, and I experience
a deeper spiritual connection.
Creating
the New
Looking
at all areas of your life, imagine ahead to December 2004.
-
Write a list of your Wins, Successes and Breakthroughs
for 2004. Be specific and write them as though they have
already happened.
-
Create a Right Brain Vision for the coming year. This
might take the form of a poem, story, collage, or drawing;
anything that captures the essence and excitement of the
intentions you set for the coming year.
-
Find
a special place in your home or office to display the
Right Brain Vision. The Vision will serve as a reminder
of what you wish to manifest in your life.
I
hope you enjoy doing this!
COACHING
MASTERY UPDATE
Coaching
Mastery telegroups, facilitated by Lisa Kramer, a certified
coach and veteran coach trainer/teleclass leader, provides
coaches with a safe learning environment to further develop
their coaching excellence. Participants get great value from
gathering with other coaches to discuss important themes and
challenges that emerge in their coaching relationships. Here’s
what one participant had to say about her recent group experience:
“I joined Coaching Mastery as an experiment, as
I was not convinced that there would be substantial value
in it for me. Well, I knew after one session that there was
huge value! And in only three sessions with my Coaching Mastery
group, I have increased my “coaching confidence”
10-fold, and my clients have noticed the difference! The group,
guided by Lisa Kramer’s masterful facilitation and spot-on
questioning, is a forum in which I can develop and test my
coaching approaches, flex my strengths, strategize with other
coaches, and have my blind spots gently revealed to me through
the coaching of my colleagues. I’ve made a huge leap
into a being a more daring, creative, relaxed and genuine
coach and because of that, my clients have made leaps too.”
