Living
with Intention in 2006
As
the New Year approaches, it is a perfect time to reflect
on your experiences from the past year in preparation for
the coming year. The following exercise will assist you
and your coaching clients to ‘complete the old’
and ‘create the new’. In doing so, you can gracefully
let go of the past year and set your intentions for the
coming year. Earlier this month, my Business Success Partner*
and I met for our second annual retreat---a full day to
reflect on what had occurred in each of our businesses in
the past year and to create a vision for our businesses
for the coming year. Since this was our second retreat,
we also reviewed the intentions we had each set for our
businesses at the end of 2004 to note what we had actually
manifested. We ended the day feeling energized by the growth
that occurred this past year and by the possibilities for
the coming year. It is astonishing to me to review the completed
exercise at the end of each year and see what I have successfully
manifested in my life by setting intentions.
Completing the Old
Step
One
Look at all the areas of your life, reflecting on 2005.
You may want to use the Wheel of Life** for this part.
-
List all of your Wins, Successes, and Breakthroughs
-
List all of your Losses, Disappointments and Breakdowns
Regardless of whether the item is a “win” or
a “loss”, you are not as likely to take on the
next opportunity in your life unless you are complete with
past accomplishments and disappointments. When you complete,
you create space for new things to show up in your life.
Here are some examples:
-
Win – In 2005, I traveled by myself to Australia.
It was a life-changing experience that included visiting
beautiful places, meeting wonderful people, and attending
the International Coach Federation Australasian conference
where I had the opportunity to demonstrate Live Coaching
during a breakout session.
-
Win – In 2005, I self-published my second book,
Loving with Intention: A Guide for Relationship Coaching.
-
Loss – In 2005, I did not successfully complete the
work on my house that I had wanted to complete. I have experienced
my house as an energy-drainer.
Step
Two
Choose 5-7 lessons you have learned this past year that
you want to take into 2006. When thinking of what lessons
to include, remember that you will want to consciously use
these lessons in the coming year.
Here
are two examples:
-
Lesson – In 2005, I discovered how much I enjoy traveling
on my own. What initially felt a bit daunting turned out
to be one of my greatest life experiences.
-
Lesson
– In 2005, I learned how important my physical environment
is in supporting me emotionally, physically, mentally
and spiritually.
Creating
the New
Looking
at all areas of your life, imagine ahead to December 2006.
If
you wish to use this exercise specifically for your business,
I suggest that you add the following questions***:
Completing
the Old:
-
What went well?
-
What am I most proud of?
- Where
did I have the most fun?
-
What am I happy to leave behind?
- What
parts of the business have momentum?
- What
helped gain that momentum?
Creating
the New:
- How
do I keep the momentum going?
- How
do I apply it to new areas?

Business
Success Partnership™
Building a successful coaching business is a daunting task
for coaches who come to the profession as solopreneurs.
Coaches face the formidable challenge of having to do it
all: marketing, bookkeeping, business development, coaching.
Working independently, they often experience a persistent
sense of self-doubt and isolation which---at its worst---
can sabotage their ability to successfully create a thriving
business. A Business Success Partnership™ (BSP) is
a professional relationship created by two self-employed
individuals for the sole purpose of ensuring that each individual’s
business becomes wildly successful! It replaces overwhelm
with synergy, and results in greater ease, momentum and
enjoyment.

what one participant has to say about the teleclass: "Lisa
Kramer's teleclass on Relationship Coaching for Couples is
the most comprehensive and well-designed class I've ever taken
as a coach. She models excellence in coaching while she is
facilitating the class. Her supporting materials, including
the guidebook she wrote along with handouts to give clients,
are superb. Equally important, the field works assignments
she mandates as part of the class truly helped me quite rapidly
build competence in coaching couples. Learning from Lisa has
been one of best coaching investments."
